Vervet – Queen

Meet Queen, a bright and alert female Vervet monkey, just 12 weeks old. She is transitioning from the black natal coat and pink face of a newborn to the adult silvery-gray or olive body fur. Her face is already showing the characteristic black mask framed by soft white fur above the brows. Queen is highly social and rapidly gaining independence, often venturing short distances from her mother. She is intensely playful and curious, mimicking the grooming and foraging behaviors of the older troop members. This period is key for learning the complex social hierarchy and communication calls of her family. Queen is a fast learner, exhibiting the natural intelligence and quick movements of her species.
